The Power of Community in Action
Between November 18 and December 2, 2024, our community united in support of Grand Itasca Foundation’s Patient Crisis Fund. Thanks to Super One shoppers in Grand Rapids and Deer River, $4,950 was raised for this vital cause. In just two years, Super One shoppers have contributed over $10,000 to the fund, demonstrating the remarkable power of collective action and the shared commitment of our community to improving lives.
The Patient Crisis Fund: A Lifeline in Challenging Times
The Patient Crisis Fund is a vital program designed to provide crucial support to patients and families facing unexpected challenges during their health care journeys. Established in partnership with Grand Itasca’s social workers, the fund helps cover essential needs such as transportation costs, lodging, prescription copays, durable medical equipment, and even necessities like clothing and food. These contributions have a direct and meaningful impact, offering relief and peace of mind when patients need it most.
“We are committed to making a difference in patients' lives," shares Becca Colby, RN, Care Coordinator at Grand Itasca. “We work closely with providers to identify gaps in care and connect patients with essential resources. Throughout 2024, I’ve had the privilege of helping new mothers secure car seats for their little ones and providing financial assistance for families needing to travel to see specialists. It’s incredibly rewarding to make a tangible difference in patients' lives during challenging times.”
Community Partnership Drives Success
The success of this initiative was made possible through the collaboration of Super One shoppers and the dedicated teams at Grand Rapids Super One North, Grand Rapids Super One South, Grand Rapids Super One Liquor, and Deer River Super One.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in this year’s round-up effort. If you’d like to continue supporting the Patient Crisis Fund, donations can be made online anytime. Together, we are building a healthier, more supportive community—one act of generosity at a time.
